Christmas in the City Street Parade 2026 - Registration Form

The Christmas in the City Street Parade will take place on Sunday 13 December 2026, from 5pm - 6pm.

We invite community groups, organisations, businesses, schools, churches, sporting clubs and and individuals to take part in this years Street Parade. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a much-loved community celebration, showcase your group to thousands of spectators, and help create a festive and memorable experience for all. 

Whether you're a walking group, performing or presenting a themed float, we encourage you to join us and bring your creativity, community spirit, and Christmas cheer to the streets of Bunbury!

Please note: The parade route is approximately 1.5kms in length. Participants should consider this distance when planning their involvement, particularly if walking the route. 

The following terms and conditions have been developed by the City of Bunbury to help ensure a safe, enjoyable and successful Street Parade for all participants and spectators. Please read them carefully and ensure your groups complies with all requirements. 

General

• The City of Bunbury Events Team reserves the right to decline any parade entry at their its discretion. 
• Parade positions will be allocated by the Events Team, taking into consideration each entry's content, theme, and potential impact on neighbouring participants.
• Santa Claus may only appear in the official City of Bunbury float. No other group or float is permitted to include a Santa Clause character. 
• The order of appearance in the parade will be determined by the Events Team.
• Each participating group will be provided with a corflute sign identifying their organisation. This sign must be attached to the lead vehicle or carried at the front by walking groups.
• Event staff and parade marshals will direct participant movement throughout the event. All participants must comply with their instructions at all times. 
• Participants are responsible for ensuring their own safety and the safety of those within their group.  
• Two judged categories will be featured:
  • Walking Group
  • Vehicle Float
• The winner of each category will receive a prize of $1000,
• Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, presentation and overall impact. 
• Winners will be announced during the Christmas in the City Carols Concert, at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on the same evening.
• Winners will also be announced on the City of Bunbury Facebook page.
• A current Certificate of Currency for Public Liability Insurance must be submitted with your application.

Arrival Times

• Large trucks, flatbed trucks, vehicles and vehicles towing boats or trailers,  must arrive at the Koolambidi Woola parade assembly area -  between 3pm and 4pm  
• Walking and dancing groups  groups are required to arrive by 4.15pm
• All parade participants must be fully assembled by 4.30pm.
• All parade vehicles and floats must enter Koolambidi Woola from Koombana Drive/Clifton Street entrance. 

Vehicle Information

• Due to limited space at the assembly area, only one vehicle per group is permitte.  Car clubs are exempt from this requirement and may enter multiple vehicles. 
• Vehicle height must not exceed 4.6 metres
• Individual vehicle length must not exceed 12.5 metres.
• Vehicle size is limited to 8 tonnes.
• All drivers must hold a valid driver's licence.
• Vehicles must travel at walking pace and be operated in a safe and controlled manner at all times. 
• Passengers are not permitted to dangle their legs over the sides of moving floats.
• Passengers must not sit with their legs hanging over the sides of moving floats or vehicles.
• Participants must not encourage spectators to high-five or make physical contact with people on moving floats.
• Drivers responsible for ensuring their vehicle complies with all traffic regulations once it exits the parade route. This includes:
  • Ensuring passengers are properly seated and secured.
  • Ensuring decorations and display items are secured and not at risk of becoming detached. 
  • Ensuring all vehicle lights are working and clearly visible. 
• Decorations may only be removed once the parade has concluded and the vehicle has returned to the Koolambidi Woola.
• Any driver found operating or behaving in an unsafe manner may be held responsible for their actions and may be excluded from future events. 

Assembly Area Requirements

• Only registered parade vehicles will permitted entry into the assembly area. 
• Private vehicles are not permitted within the assembly area and must be parked in nearby public parking areas. 
• Parents and guardians dropping off participants must park externally and escort participants into the assembly area on foot.
• Large props, musical instruments, or equipment that cannot be carried must be transported on the registered parade vehicle, as support vehicles will not be permitted access.

Responsibility for Children

• Children travelling on floats, trucks, trailers, or other moving vehicles must be supervised by responsible adults at all times.
• Children must never be placed onto or removed from a moving vehicle.
• Group coordinators are responsible for the supervision and welfare of all children in their care until they are collected by a parent or guardian.
• No child is to be left unattended following the conclusion of the parade.
• Children under seven years of age travelling on the back of a moving vehicle or trailer must be supervised by at least one adult for every ten children. Supervising adults must remain on the vehicle at all times.
• Each group must nominate at least one adult chaperone to assist children in safely disembarking and reuniting with their parent or guardian following the parade.

Distribution of Items

• Lollies, promotional items, and merchandise must not be thrown from vehicles or handed out along the parade route.
• These items may only be distributed before or after the parade and outside the designated route.
• Flyers may be distributed during the parade only when safe to do so and must not be handed out from moving vehicles or in a manner that disrupts the parade or compromises public safety.
