Christmas in the City 2025 Street Parade

The Christmas in the City Street Parade will be held on Sunday 14 December 2025, from 5pm - 6pm. 

Applications are now open to community groups, organisations, businesses, schools, churches, and individuals! This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a vibrant community celebration while showcasing your group to thousands of locals. Help us bring festive cheer and make this year's parade one to remember!

Please note: The parade route is approximately 1.5km, so consider this if your group will be walking the route.

Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions have been developed by the City of Bunbury to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Street Parade for all. Please read them carefully to ensure you understand and comply with the requirements.

General

  • The City of Bunbury's Events Team reserves the right to decline any parade entry at their discretion. 
  • Parade positions will be allocated by the Events Team, taking into account content, theme, and the potential impact on other participants.
  • No float or group is permitted to include a Santa Claus. Only one official Santa will appear in the Street Parade, organised by the City of Bunbury.
  • The order of appearance in the parade will be determined by the Events Team.
  • Each participating group will be provided with a corflute sign identifying their organisation. This sign must be attached to the lead vehicle or carried by walking groups.
  • Parade conduct and movement will be directed by event staff and marshals along the route. All participants must follow their instructions at all times.
  • Participants are responsible for their own safety throughout the event.
  • Two judged categories will be featured:
    • Walking Group
    • Vehicle Float
    • Each category winner will receive $1000
  • A panel of judges will access all entries based on creativity, originality and overall impact.
  • Winners will be announced during the Christmas in the City Carols Concert, held on the dame evening at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
  • Winners will also be announced on the City of Bunbury Facebook page.
  • A current copy of your groups Public Liability Insurance must be submitted with your online application. 

Arrival Times

  • Large trucks, flatbed trucks, vehicles and vehicles towing boats or trailers,  must arrive at the Wittenoom Street Carpark between 3pm and 4pm  
  • Walking and dancing groups  groups are required to arrive by 4.15pm
  • All parade participants must be fully assembled by 4.30pm.
  • All parade vehicles and floats must enter the Wittenoom Street Carpark via the Wellington Street entrance, accessing it through the Victoria Street roundabout. 

Vehicle Information

  • Due to space limitations at the assembly area, only one vehicle per group will be permitted in the 2025 Street Parade, except for car clubs, which may enter multiple vehicles. 
  • Vehicle height must not exceed 4.6m. 
  • Individual vehicle length must not exceed 12.5m.
  • Vehicle size is limited to 8 tonnes.
  • Drivers of vehicles must hold a valid drivers licence.
  • Vehicles must travel at walking speed and be operated in a safe and controlled manner at all times. 
  • Passengers are not permitted to dangle their legs over the sides of moving floats.
  • Participants must not encourage spectators to high five or make physical contact with individuals on or within moving floats. 
  • The driver is responsible for ensuring the vehicle complies with all traffic regulations once the parade has concluded and the vehicle exits the parade route. This includes, but not limited to:
    • Ensuring all passengers are properly seated and secured.
    • Ensuring no decorations or items are loose or at risk of becoming dislodged.
    • Confirming all vehicle lights are working and clearly visible. 
  • Vehicle decorations may only be removed once the parade is complete and the vehicle has returned to the Wittenoom Street Carpark.
  • Any vehicle or driver found behaving in an unsafe or inappropriate manner after the conclusion of the parade may be held liable for their actions. 

Assembly Area Information 

  • Only Vehicles participating in the parade will be permitted to enter the parade assembly area. 
  • Private vehicles are not allowed in the assembly area and must be parked in nearby carparks or designated parking bays. 
  • Parents and guardians dropping off participants must park nearby and escort participants on foot into the assembly area.
  • Large musical instruments or props that cannot be carried must be transported on the registered parade vehicle, as non-parade vehicles will not be granted access into the parade assembly area. 

Responsibility of Children Participating

  • Children riding on floats, decorated trucks, trailers or other moving vehicles must be supervised by adults at all times.
  • Children must not be placed onto, removed from, or allowed to leave a moving vehicle under any circumstances.
  • Entrant coordinators are responsible for the safety and supervision of all children in their group until they are collected be a parent or guardian. No child is to be left unattended after the parade concludes. 
  • Children under the age of 7 travelling on the back of a moving vehicle (including trailers), must be accompanied by at least one adult supervisor per 10 children. The supervising adult (s) must remain on the vehicle at all times. 
  • All groups must designate at least one adult chaperone to assist children in safely exiting the float and reuniting then with their parent or guardian after the parade. 

Giving-Away Items

  • Lollies and merchandise must not be thrown or handed out to spectators from moving vehicles or by participants during the parade. These items may one be distributed before or after the Street Parade, outside the parade route. 

  • Flyers may be handed out during the parade, but only when safe to do so. They must not be distributed from moving vehicles or in any way that disrupts the flow of the parade or compromises safety. 

Failure to Comply

Event staff and security will be present in the assembly area and along the parade route to ensure all participants are adhering to the terms and conditions. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in immediate removal from the event and may impact your group’s eligibility to participate in future City of Bunbury events.

All participants are required to follow safety procedures and comply with instructions provided by event staff at all times.

Street Parade Route

The Street Parade will commence at 5pm from the Wittenoom Street Carpark, turning left onto Prinsep Street, continuing through to Haley Street, then turning left onto Blair Street, followed by a left turn onto Clifton Street, another left into Victoria Street, and finally a right into Wellington Street, returning to the Wittenoom Street carpark. The parade is expected to conclude at 6pm. 

To ensure the safety of participants disembarking from floats and vehicles, all floats will be directed into the Wittenoom Street Carpark at the end of the parade. Parents and  guardians collecting participants must follow instructions provided by event staff and security personnel to avoid congestion and maintain safety. 

Once deemed safe by event staff, vehicles may exit the Wittenoom Street Carpark via Prinsep Street.

If your vehicle does not require dismemberment of passengers or removal of decorations, you may continue past the assembly area via Wellington Street, bypassing the carpark.
